Frequently Asked Questions
What does it mean to have an individual lease?
Individual leasing means that each person is only responsible for their portion of the unit lease or bed
space. If your roommate ends up not coming back for the spring semester, you’re not responsible for
their payment.
What is included in the rent?
The Cambridge rent is all-inclusive. Your rent includes: All utilities (water, sewer, trash, and electricity),
cable with HBO, high-speed ethernet and WIFI access, food, weekly housekeeping, access to all of The
Cambridge amenities, and a wonderful staff that is there to help you anytime you need them.
Do you have a roommate matching system?
Yes, if you don’t have anybody in mind that you would like to live with let us match you up with
somebody! There is a Roommate Matching Sheet that you can fill out to let us know more about what
you’re looking for in a roommate. Then, we will spend weeks in the summer figuring out the best match
for you based on that information.
When is my rent due?
Rent is due based on your lease agreement. You can pay up front (due July 1), in semester installments
(due July 1 and December 1), or in ten installments (due July 1 and on the first of the month for the next
9 consecutive months).
How do I pay my rent?
There are several ways that you can pay your rent. You can:
- Pay with a personal check, money order, or cashier’s check.
- Pay with a credit card in person or over the phone (2.75% transaction fee).
- Pay with a credit card online through Rent Payment.
- Have your rent automatically deducted from your bank account each month.
Do you allow pets?
The only pets we allow are fish.
Is there insurance coverage in the event of a fire, theft or natural causes? Does my lease provide coverage for my belongings?
The Cambridge insurance will not cover your personal belongings. We suggest getting renter’s insurance for this reason. It is generally inexpensive and will cover your personal belongings if something were to happen.
What if I need to break my lease or don't return for the spring semester?
The Cambridge lease is binding and cannot be broken. If you cannot live at The Cambridge after signing your lease, you will need to sublease. Please call the leasing office for information on subleasing.
What if I need Maintenance in my bedroom or apartment?
If you need maintenance, simply go to our website and fill out a maintenance request. You can also call or stop by the front desk. If it is an emergency, please notify the front desk immediately.
What furniture is provided?
The Cambridge is fully furnished with a regular twin-sized bed, four stackable drawers, a large desk, and a desk chair for each resident in their bedroom. If you have a living room area, there is a sofa, oversized chair, coffee table, end table, entertainment center, and dining table and chairs.
How do I receive mail and packages?
Your mail will be delivered to your apartment’s mailbox in the lobby of The Cambridge. If you have a package that doesn’t fit in the mailbox, you will get a message in your mailbox that your package is at the front desk. You will need a photo ID to pick it up.
How close are you to campus?
We are less than a mile from Texas A&M University’s campus. There is a free shuttle that picks you up right outside the front door and takes you to the center of campus throughout the day. It takes only minutes to get to your class! We also have bike racks at The Cambridge if you choose to bring your bike.
We are less than 7 miles from Blinn College in Bryan. It is a quick and easy drive! If you don’t bring a car, no problem! Blinn offers a bus from Texas A&M University that you can take or carpool with a friend.
What type of parking is available at your community?
We offer unreserved parking that is directly outside The Cambridge. There are more than enough parking spots for our residents, so you won’t have to worry about having to walk far to get to your car.
What do I need to bring to my new apartment?
We suggest that you bring:
- Bedding for a regular twin-sized bed.
- Toiletries.
- Everything you’ll need for your classes.
- An alarm clock.
- Decorations to make your new room feel like home!
What is a Resident Advisor?
A Resident Advisor (R.A.) is a college student that is there to help you! They are listening ears if you are struggling with something, aids in roommate conflicts, and social activity planners. They live on-site, so they’re available 24 hours a day.
What kinds of events do you have at The Cambridge?
The Cambridge has weekly resident events that range from pizza parties to karaoke nights. Each year we have a luau the Sunday before the fall semester begins, a Cambridge tailgate before an A&M football game, a Casino Night at the beginning of the spring semester, and a resident football tournament! Not only is there free food at events, but it’s also a great way to meet people!
Which meal plan should I get?
The Cambridge offers the following meal plan options: 7 meals a week, 14 meals a week, and unlimited meals a week. The meals are non-transferable and don’t roll-over each week. We suggest getting the unlimited meal plan because the cost is not much more for what you are receiving.
How does your laundry system work?
Our washers and dryers accept our Laundry Cards as payment. You will receive a Laundry Card when you move in to The Cambridge, and you can load money on it up front or as you wash your clothes. Think of it like a debit card for laundry. You will never have to collect coins again!
